Meet Dr. Homan

Dr. Homan founded Canopy Pediatrics to re-establish the mutually rewarding doctor-patient relationship. When you visit Dr. Homan at Canopy Pediatrics, you will not feel rushed, instead you will feel like you're visiting a friend.

Dr. Homan received an Ivy League education for both his undergraduate and medical training. He attended Princeton University then the Columbia University School of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City. Next he completed his pediatric residency at the University of Florida in Gainesville. He has experience working as a hospitalist, a pediatric emergency room physician, a private-practice pediatrician, and as a child-abuse medical director.

To better support his breastfeeding families, he became a board-certified lactation consultant. Dr. Homan has also added "breastfeeding medicine" to his practice, treating breastfeeding parents for problems such as mastitis, blocked ducts, supply deficiencies, and other breastfeeding related medical problems. To help his families struggling with ADHD, sleep issues, and other behavioral problems he became a Level 3 Positive Parenting Program counselor for both children and adolescents. And he has continued to improve his knowledge regarding many difficult medical problems such as infant food sensitivities, migraine headaches, asthma, and eczema.

Parents appreciate Dr. Homan's knowledge and expertise, and what parents love most is his calm demeanor and attentive style. He sits and listens, he plays with his patients, and he trusts parents' instincts about their children. And when they are stressed or worried about their child, he is a calming influence, because he knows the difference between a medical emergency and a medical challenge.

Membership enables us to limit our patient number and paperwork, so that Dr. Homan can focus on people.

How It Works

Similar to joining a gym or Netflix, you simply pay a monthly membership fee, which covers all necessary visits, phone calls, text communications, and common in-house tests like strep, flu, and RSV. There is never a copay!

Membership Includes:

Annually for older children and more frequently for younger children. Includes vision, hearing, developmental, and depression screening. After the newborn visit, children have well child visits at 2 weeks, 1 month, 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 9 months, 12 months, 15 months, 18 months, 2 years, 2.5 years, 3 years then annually. Vaccinations are administered at many of these visits and are billed using the patient's insurance through Vaxcare.
Includes pediatric acute visits for common complaints, such as cough, congestion, sore throat, aches, pains, and injuries. Also visits concerning developmental, behavioral, learning, and sleep issues.
We use technology for convenience and peace of mind. Text your pediatrican with a question, because maybe a visit is needed, but maybe not. Forgot to ask a question? Just send a quick text. Need a sports physical form? Email it. Done. Easy.
We understand that leaving home with a newborn, especially the first time, is a challenge. By the time you have packed the diaper bag and stroller, the baby is hungry again! Enjoy the convenience of your first two newborn visits in the comfort of your own home.
Canopy Pediatrics is uniquely equipped to help meet your breastfeeding goals. Dr. Homan is a board-certified lactation consultant with years of experience treating breastfeeding problems. Sometimes all that is needed is a simple suggestion or observation. Other times, a more extensive evaluation, including (but not limited to) pre- and post-breastfeeding weights (to measure baby milk intake), testing different baby holds, breastpump function and fit, or evaluating infant suction or tongue-tie are necessary. Dr. Homan can also treat the breastfeeding parent for breast or nipple infections, mastitis, engorgement, lumps, pain, rashes, and more. He is also able to prescribe medication that may increase or sustain the milk supply.
Common everyday lab tests including strep, RSV, mono, and screening for anemia are included with your membership. If more extensive lab testing is necessary, this will be billed using your insurance or through Canopy Pediatrics. In urgent situations, we are able to draw the blood (or obtain the urine) at Canopy Pediatrics and then deliver the specimens to the laboratory. For non-urgent lab draws, we utilize Quest or Labcorp.
No more waiting on hold. If you are sure you want an appointment, schedule one online. If you don't see a time that fits your schedule, text your pediatrician and ask for a more convenient time. Not sure if you need an appointment? Text or email your pediatrician and they will let you know what is needed.
Tired of explaining the issue over and over? Or having different doctors switching between different treatments? At Canopy Pediatrics, we are a team who works together with the same plan. Dr. Homan will be available for the vast majority of office visits, but if he is working in the hospital or on vacation, and a phone consultation is not sufficent, our nurse practitioners, Ms. Morrell or Ms. Hearne are availabe for in-person offices with Dr. Homan available for management and follow-up.
Sometimes a child's (or a breastfeeding parent's) problem requires the help of an specialist or therapist. Canopy Pediatrics will work with you to coordinate the care between specialists.
