Canopy Pediatrics is an out-of-network provider and does not participate in any insurance plans. However, twice annually, upon request we can generate a billing receipt that you can submit to your insurer for covered services such as well-child visits and sick visits. Reimbursement for out-of-network providers varies significantly from plan to plan. Please consult with a representative from your insurance company for your policy's details.

Canopy Pediatrics is not a substitute for health insurance. If you choose to come to our practice, you may find it advantageous to choose a different insurance plan or try an indemnity plan or a healthsharing plan. Please consult with a financial advisor or a representative from an insurance company to guide your plan choice. Most plans cover the costs of scans and lab tests just as they would if ordered by an in-network physician. Please consult with a representative from your insurance company for your policy's details.

In-home newborn and infant services are exclusively available to members of the Dr. Homan Ready, Nest, Grow Program. For these members, the first 2 newborn visits are conducted in your home at no additional charge. Other house calls may be available for an additional fee, schedule permitting.

Yes, we try to limit driving to about 20 minutes from our office.

Then, we'll set up a relaxed, no-pressure meeting (either in person or via Zoom - whatever works best for you!) to explore our amazing Dr. Homan Ready, Nest, Grow Program. For our Capital Regional Medical Center families, Dr. Homan will be there to welcome your little one into the world. If you're delivering at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital, we'll be ready to meet your precious new addition at their first office visit after discharge. We can't wait to be part of your family's story!

Dr Homan has privileges at HCA Florida.

It depends. As Dr. Homan has privileges at Capital Regional Medical Center, he will care for your child if he/she is admitted there. Children admitted to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital (TMH) are under the direct care of TMH hospitalists. We will work closely with the TMH pediatricians to optimize your child's care, and we will provide seamless follow-up upon discharge.

Yes. Members, when appropriate, can use photos, phone calls and video calls to communicate with us. In many cases questions can be answered and diagnoses can be made (or ruled out) without an office visit. This saves families time and money, and it is covered by your membership, free of charge.

Given the small size of our practice, your doctor will have an excellent understanding of your family and your child's medical history. So we will do as much as we safely can via phone, text and video. This long-distance care may include calling in a prescription to a local pharmacy or helping you find a local urgent care or ER should further evaluation or testing be required.

We are advocates of vaccines, and we feel strongly that administering them based on the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) recommended schedule is one of the most important preventative care measures that any physician can offer. Immunizations have saved more lives than any other medical advancement. At the same time, we understand the concern that many families have about vaccines, especially given many at the same time. We accept families that wish to delay or forgo vaccines, as long as they are willing to have an open discussion about vaccines. In most cases an alternative schedule can be jointly produced by our families and Dr. Homan or Mrs. Carmen.

We are currently not able to see non-member patients.

When your doctor or nurse-practioner is on vacation, the other medical providers in our practice will cover his or her patients.
