Helping you have a positive breastfeeding experience
General breastfeeding consultation
Is your breastfeeding experience not meeting your expectations? Schedule a general breastfeeding appointment with Dr. Homan. He can meet you at your home or in the office.
Painful breastfeeding
Are you experiencing pain with nursing? The problem could be as simple as positioning, but sometimes pain is causes by infection, allergies, tongue-tie, or a dysfunctional suck. Dr. Homan is equipped to address all of these issues.
Supply Concerns
Are you unable to produce or pump enough breastmilk? Formulate a personalized plan with Dr. Homan, that may include a specific pumping schedule, medication, natural supplements, or trying different holds.
Breast pain or lumps
Pain or lumps that continue after a nursing session are often caused by blocked ducts or an infection, both of which can often be treated without antibiotics. Very rarely breast cancer occurs while a parent is breastfeeding, so it is important to have any swelling or persistent pain checked by a medical provider.
Difficulty weaning
Some children are easily transitioned from breastfeeding to cups or bottles--but others can be a challenge! If you are having trouble weaning your child--whether a 2 month old or 2 year old--from breastfeeding, formulate your plan with the help of Dr. Homan.
Tongue-tie or lip-tie
Do you suspect or have you been told that your baby has a tongue-tie or lip-tie? Have your child evaluated by Dr. Homan, who will advise you on management options and perform the tongue-tie or lip-tie clipping if necessary.
Achieve your breastfeeding goals with the help of Dr. Homan
Longer, unhurried breastfeeding evaluations
Observing breastfeeding, trying different holds, performing pre- and post-weights, and sometimes providing treatment to the breastfeeding parent takes about 1-2 hours.
Comprehensive management
Since Dr. Homan is a pediatrician, a board-certified lactation consultant, and a board-certified breastfeeding medicine physician, he provides breastfeeding guidance AND medically manages breast-feeding related issues of the parent (such as mastitis, rashes, blocked ducts, etc).
